Youth Business Grant Program Says Thanks!

LACDC News:

The Youth Business Grant Program (YBGP) of the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation would like to extend a large thank you to the following companies, organizations and individuals for their support of the 2012 Youth Business Grant Program.

We wish to thank the Laboratory Retiree Program, Plateau Property Management, Neptune and Company, Inc., Rotary Club of Los Alamos, TRK Management, Zia Credit Union, and Louisa Stavert for their generous financial support of this year’s program.

We also want to thank and recognize the Los Alamos Daily Post, Los Alamos Monitor and Assets in Action for their help in promoting all the youth businesses.

Additionally, we would like to thank our volunteers Jessica Haynie, David Jolly, Kim Selvage, Heather Campbell, Connie Proulx, Claire Roybal, Ken Nebel and Bernadette Lauritzen who served on our interview panel and/or will volunteer time as a mentor.

In its 27th year, the program provides an opportunity for youth in the communities of Los Alamos, Jemez Springs, Espanola, and Pojoaque to learn the basics of entrepreneurship and business operation.

This program would not be possible without the contributions of time, money, and energy from a variety of sources.

We had another fantastic year with 18 grant awards totaling $4,509 to help young entrepreneurs start and run their businesses this summer.

You can connect with these businesses on the web at www.ybgp.org

A brochure listing all the businesses may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, 109 Central Park Square or the Small Business Development Center, 190 Central Park Square.

Since its inception, the program has helped more than 260 young entrepreneurs learn how to start and run their own business.

A sincere thank you to all who helped make this year’s program a great success.

Congratulations to our 2012 Recipients.
