The annual Family YMCA 4th of July Children’s Parade will begin at 10:45 a.m. July 4. Families should begin assembling for this free event between 10:15 and 10:44 a.m. by the “elephant” at Ashley Pond.
The parade offers youth and their families an opportunity to show their patriotic colors. Participants are encouraged to decorate bikes, favorite toys and their four-legged family members. (Pets will be allowed in the parade but their humans must be able to restrain and clean up after them.)
The parade will head east down Central Avenue then north on 15th Street to the south end of the YMCA parking lot where American Legion members will perform a brief flag ceremony. Afterward, the fun of hot dogs, watermelon, games, and prizes will be had until 12:30 p.m.
