The Family YMCA Encourages Kids to Play and Learn at Healthy Kids Day, April 28

FAMILY YMCA News:

On April 28, The Family YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day with a free community event for kids and families.

More than 1,900 Ys across that country are taking part in the celebration, meant to kick start physical activity and learning throughout the summer.

Healthy Kids Day, a national initiative of the Y to improve the health and well-being of kids, is filled with fun, active play and educational activities that will help parents improve their kids’ lifestyles for the long term.
Research shows that without access to activities that stimulate the mind and body, kids are more prone to gain weight and fall behind academically over the summer months.

The event will take place at The Family YMCA facility from 9am-Noon. Scheduled activities include:
  • Climbing 10 a.m.-noon
  • Zumba for kids 10:30-11 a.m.
  • Gardening 10 a.m.-noon
Along with ongoing activities such as junior-golf skills, toddler story time, mini obstacle course, games, recycle arts and crafts, and healthy snacks, Healthy Kids Day is bound to be a fun-filled day.
