COMMUNITY News:
Local Physician Dr. Elena McAtee and Certified Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach Kate Cleveland will host the second installment of a new group dedicated to the issues surrounding weight loss drugs.
“The confidential group meets the first Wednesday of the month and newcomers are welcome,” McAtee said. “We are here because there’s so much when it comes to these medications that you can’t get to in a typical doctor’s visit.”
The March meeting was extremely successful and the topics that came up included supporting nutrition while losing weight and making sure that even though you are not hungry, you are finding ways to keep your body healthy.
The groups discuss the stigma, and hesitancy associated with these medications. Oftentimes, lack of education and knowledge about something causes fear and negative stigma, but this group is designed to help. They can answer questions even if you are just considering these medications, plus they can help guide you if you begin.
The class takes place at The Unitarian Church, 1738 N. Sage Loop. The fee is $50 per session, and questions can be addressed during the meeting or even via email before it takes place.
Visitors can come just once or anytime additional guidance is needed.
Pre-registration is not required to attend, and you can check out the frequently asked questions page before attending at https://weightlosssupportgroup.my.canva.site/kissyourfood.
The team works behind the scenes reviewing research because the information is always changing. They prefer to stay on top of it, so their clients do not have to juggle an additional item. They want to help residents simplify and implement changes, with the long-term goal of improving health top-of-mind.
