New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 1,549 New Cases, Total Now 100,963 With 40 New Deaths And 34,411 Patients Recovered
STATE News:
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced this afternoon 1,549 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County reports 4 more cases today … the total is now 158 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update includes 40 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:
- 448 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 130 new cases in Chaves County
- 18 new cases in Cibola County
- 4 new cases in Colfax County
- 32 new cases in Curry County
- 4 new cases in De Baca County
- 113 new cases in Doña Ana County

New Mexico State Land Office Offering Low-Cost Christmas Tree Cutting And Sand Gathering Permits Now To Dec. 16
State Land Office News:
SANTA FE –The New Mexico State Land Office announced Tuesday low-cost Christmas tree cutting and sand gathering permits on state trust land in advance of the upcoming holiday.
Christmas tree cutting permits are available for $10, and the permitted area is east of Black Lake and South of Angel Fire. A limit of one tree, no taller than 15 feet, is allowed per permit.
Sand gathering permits, meant to allow individuals to gather sand to fill farolitos, are $5 and allow for the removal of up to 20 gallons of sand per permit, which is enough to fill approximately 100 farolito bags. Read More

Santa Fe National Forest: Seasonal Road Closures
SFNF News:
SANTA FE – The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) reminds visitors that forest roads susceptible to damage under severe weather conditions are closed for the winter to protect public health and safety, infrastructure and natural resources.
Seasonal closures generally occur between December and May, when snow, ice and frigid temperatures make winter travel treacherous.
The closures prohibit the use of motorized vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles, on restricted roads when gates are closed, locked or posted with a closure sign.

New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) daily Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist as of Tuesday, includes New Mexico places of employment with two or more rapid responses in the last 14 days.
There are now 206 establishments on the Watchlist.
The Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist and closure list, which includes all establishments that are required to be closed, are posted here.
