With Community’s Help … Los Alamos Can Become Hockeyville USA!

LAHA News:

Fans of Los Alamos can help the Los Alamos Hockey Association (LAHA) make our community the next Hockeyville USA.

The association is participating in a contest, sponsored by Kraft, to show the Los Alamos ice rink embodies the spirit of Kraft Hockeyville USA with a grand prize of $150,000 in rink upgrades and the opportunity to host an NHL exhibition game.

With help from the Los Alamos Historical Society, the hockey association has prepared an entry story for the contest about the long, compelling history of hockey in Los Alamos, which dates to the days of the Los Alamos Ranch School.

This was the second meeting for these teams, and the first game was played in Espanola and the Toppers won. The Toppers were looking to repeat that win, but the Sundevils came out with a fierce defense, which caused the Toppers to miss shots and led to many turnovers. The game was close throughout, but in the end a Sundevil score in the last few seconds of the game gave them the win 46-44. Photo by John McHale/ladailypost.com

Toppers Fade In Fourth Quarter

The Toppers parade onto the court in the Edward Madenia Gym in Espanola to face the Sundevils last Friday night. This was the second meeting for these teams and the Toppers were hoping to reverse the outcome this time but that was not to be, as they lost 63-81. In spite of scoring the most points all season it was not enough for a win. Photo by John McHale/ladailypost.com
