Red River Grant To Enhance Beautification, Reduce Litter

RED RIVER — The Town of Red River has announced that it has been awarded a grant of $7,355.44 from the Clean and Beautiful Grant Program, an initiative of the New Mexico Tourism Department.

This grant will significantly contribute to this Northern New Mexico town’s ongoing efforts to enhance beautification and reduce litter within its community.

Mayor Linda Calhoun expressed appreciation for the recognition and support received from the Clean and Beautiful Grant Program.

“We are thrilled to have received this funding, which will play a pivotal role in furthering our efforts to make Red River a cleaner and more visually appealing destination for residents and visitors alike,” Mayor Calhoun said.

The Clean and Beautiful Grant Program focuses on promoting several goals and objectives, including the elimination of litter, waste reduction, the beautification of communities, empowering youth and enhancing program capacity.

These funds will be directed toward a range of initiatives designed to achieve these aims within the town.  One of the primary areas of focus for utilizing this grant will be the implementation of a robust litter reduction campaign. With this funding, the town will be able to implement targeted strategies to better manage and reduce litter, thereby preserving the natural beauty and charm of Red River.

Tourism plays a crucial role in the economy of the town, and a clean and beautiful environment contributes significantly to its appeal.

Director Max Khudiakov of Economic Development & Tourism and Program Manager for the Keep Red River Clean & Beautiful program for the Town of Red River, expressed his enthusiasm.

“This grant will support our ongoing efforts to showcase Red River as a welcoming and pristine destination,” Khudiakov said. “It will help us ensure that visitors to our town experience the true beauty of our natural surroundings.”

The grant will also provide an opportunity for the youth of the town to actively participate in programs and projects aimed at beautification and litter reduction. By involving young members of the community, the Town of Red River aims to instill a sense of pride and ownership, ensuring the sustainability of these efforts for years to come.
