New Mexico State Police Officer Hit Head-On By Wrong-Way Driver In Albuquerque Causing Fatal Crash

RIO RANCHO – At about 4 p.m. Oct. 22, a New Mexico State Police sergeant was traveling north on Unser near Mariposa in Albuquerque, when for reasons still under investigation, a southbound green SUV occupied by two males crossed the center line and drove head-on into the State Police sergeant’s SUV patrol unit.

JEMEZ SPRINGS — Fire managers began prescribed burn operations Thursday within Valles Caldera National Preserve.
 
Smoke from the burn is visible today and with burn operations expected to last a few days, officials say that smoke may be visible through next week.

NMSP Investigate Plane Crash In Pecos Wilderness

MORA COUNTY The Office of Medical Investigator (OMI) has identified the pilot in the plane crash in the Pecos Wilderness in Mora County as Nicholas Peterson, 29, of Littleton, Colo. OMI is still investigating to identify the passenger. 

New Mexico State Police was notified Sept. 26 of an airplane that went missing after taking off from the Santa Fe Airport in Santa Fe.

Fog Seal Project Start Date Changed To Oct. 28

Due to upcoming weather concerns Thursday, Oct. 24, the fog seal project in White Rock has been changed to Thursday, Oct. 28 and Friday Oct. 29.
 
GM Emulsion will start fog sealing beginning on Rover Boulevard starting at N.M. 4 and continue toward Grand Canyon Drive.
 
Crews will continue down Grand Canyon Drive starting at N.M. 4 to Meadow Lane. They also will work on Bryce Avenue, starting at Rover Boulevard to Meadow Lane. Crews will work 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Weather permitting, work should be completed by Friday, Oct. 29.
