Co-op Market Adds Recycling Opportunities
For those in the community who hate throwing away cottage cheese and other plastic tubs and chip bags, the Co-op has good news.
Here’s a brief summary of the expanded world of recycling; further details are available on a slip of paper at the Co-op – just ask at the register.
Terracycle bins (two outside the store): all dairy tubs, with their lids; hummus containers; energy bar wrappers; chip bags; cereal box liners; Bear Naked packaging.
Glass recycling: yellow bin at the entrance to the parking lot—all glass bottles and jars.
You can bring your Terracycle recycling to Earth Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and find the Co-op booth with a Terracycle bin right there!
PEEC was delighted to be selected as the recipient of the money earned at the Co-op by recycling in the Terracycle bins. Thanks to everyone for helping the environment and PEEC!
Editor’s note: This is part of a series of stories from the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) leading up to its annual Earth Day Festival set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., today at PEEC, 3540 Orange St., in Los Alamos.
This year’s Earth Day Festival will feature displays by community groups of their earth-friendly products and practices and their information about our environment on the Pajarito Plateau.
- Over 20 booths
- Food vendors
- Live entertainment by Clan Tynker and the Hill Stompers
- Kids activities, including “Walk Like a Wolf”, the “Mudpie Kitchen” and making miniature adobes with the Cornerstones Community Partnership.
Important Update: Park at Sullivan Field and ride a free Atomic City Bus to Saturday’s Earth Day event because LAHS parking lot will be full from three events being held at the school.
