CHARLES THOMAS KLINGNER 1943 – 2024
Charles Thomas (Tom) Klingner was passionate about fireworks and national parks, bikes and cars, electric cars, family and friends, sailing and skiing, rockets and computers. He could be heard shouting “whoop!” as he skied powder runs. He encouraged others on the slope to “befriend the moguls”, instilling enthusiasm for challenges. He was kind and welcoming.

Los Alamos Gravity Race Is Cancelled

COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos Gravity Race, originally scheduled fortoday, Oct. 12, has been cancelled due to insufficient registration. However, the Recreation Division is already planning to try again in the Spring of 2025.
“We are looking at March 29, 2025, at the same time and place. We encourage the community to stay tuned for more details as we approach the new date and look forward to bringing this exciting event back,” Recreation Program Manager Brendan Tuning said.

Secretary Of State’s Office Announces Modernized Online Business Portal, Refunds For Prepaid Account Holders
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office (SOS) announced Friday that all business transactions with the SOS’s office beginning Nov. 12, 2024 will be conducted through its online business filing portal.
The SOS’s online filing portal, SOS Enterprise, has been the portal for Notary, UCC and Facsimile Filings for the past year. In November, all Business Filings will be a part of this portal, allowing for a more user friendly and updated environment. Customers will be able to register and maintain their businesses through this portal.

Streamflows in Northern New Mexico have fallen to the lowest level they have had in months. The Rio Grande at Cerro near the state border near Colorado was flowing at just 66.5 cubic-feet-per-second. The Chama River above the town of Chama was at 21.4 cubic-feet-per-second. The Pecos River was flowing at 42.3 cubic-feet-per-second.
These flows are well-below normal for this time of year. They make for good fishing, but the low water requires a stealthy approach and accurate casts.

SANTA FE — A state plan for protecting critical water and wastewater systems from cyber-attacks has received high praise and approval from the White House.
The National Security Council, Environmental Protection Agency and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency asked all states to prepare an action plan to mitigate cybersecurity risks in water and wastewater systems. Los Alamos County, in partnership with Los Alamos MainStreet and the Creative District, announced today that the 2024 Holiday Lights Parade is on and will take place 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, during the WinterFest weekend.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Winter Brilliance”.

JOHN R. ASBRIDGE Aug. 26, 1928 – Sept. 28, 2024
John Robert “Jack” Asbridge, 96, of Castle Pines, Colorado passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024.
Born on August 26, 1928, in Lakeside, Montana, Jack was the beloved son of the late Vern and Emma Asbridge.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marilyn, their five children, Debbie, Karen, Mary, Gary, and Joe, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
After graduating from high school in Kalispell, Montana, in 1946, Jack joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served for three years, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
