SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation, State Police and Motor Transportation Police will be working together to coordinate the transport of a 910,000 lb. transformer for Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative, Inc.
The transformer will be driven on a 20’ x 290’ trailer from Santo Domingo Pueblo to Chili (north of Espanola) beginning Tuesday, June 18 and arriving at its final destination the next day. The transport trailer will take up two lanes along the route and will travel at speeds varying from 5 to 30 mph.

BAER Team Assembled To Assess Fire Damage
SFNF News:
Rehabilitation of fire damage will be addressed by the Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team.
Specialists of different disciplines will work with the various agencies and pueblos affected by the Thompson Ridge Fire to assess damage and recommend actions to protect the burned area and mitigate hazards.

If there was ever pressure to make a film right, it was for Man of Steel. This film had hype, Chris Nolan’s name, and the hope of an epic Justice League film. There was a lot riding on this film. Man of Steel had a ton of grand action, but it didn’t have a whole lot else. Although we hate to say it, this film was grand disappointment. Man of Steel is a $225 million children’s film that likens itself to a Power Rangers episode minus the red underwear.

UNM-LA and LAPS Team Up for Hazardous Waste Disposal

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) and Los Alamos Public Schools will be working together June 18–20, to properly dispose of hazardous waste generated in their science and art classes.
The two schools have contracted with PSC, a Texas based company who specializes in the packaging, transportation and disposal of hazardous materials. The material being collected from both campuses is the type, which cannot be discarded by either pouring down the drain or placing in the trash.

Telling tales has been John Nichols’ life-long career.
“Ever since I was a kid, I had a great imagination and told a lot of lies,” the Taos author said.
The chance to hear Nichols’ stories first-hand is approaching. He will make an appearance in Mesa Public Library’s Authors Speak series at 7 p.m., June 27 in the library’s rotunda.
Nichols has published 20 books of both fiction and non-fiction. Several of his novels, including The Milagro Beanfield War, have been made into movies.
