Pino Fire Appears To Have Met Resource Objectives

SANTA FE – The lightning caused Pino Fire is now estimated at 4,313 acres. The fire is burning on Santa Fe National Forest’s Jemez Ranger District, five miles south of N.M. 4 and six miles east of Jemez Springs.

This fire has been highly visible for the past few days as it has been managed to improve forest health. Through a combination of hand and aerial ignitions, low-intensity fires have been used to reduce excess fuels. These actions should moderate the risk of future high-intensity Read More

Comedian Joan Rivers Dies At Age 81

Joan Rivers

Comedian Joan Rivers has died at the age of 81. 

Rivers was undergoing surgery on her vocal cords Aug. 28 at a clinic in New York City when she stopped breathing and had to be transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Her daughter Melissa announced that her mother passed away peacefully at 1:17 p.m., today surrounded by family and close friends. Read More

A traveling troupe of pink flamingos were sighted in front of Ian and Amy Albright’s home at 2995 Arizona. They were there to acknowledge a terrific exterior home renovation that the Albrights finished this summer.

The last few weeks have shown Los Alamos to not be the quiet little village many often seem to claim it is. Sadly, our Magistrate Court judge has seemingly done very little to help local law enforcement keep what safety we have in place.

One example of the failure of our Magistrate judge to protect this community is her dealings with Steve Porter. Granted, the man is innocent until proven guilty, but clearly our Magistrate judge is loosing whatever effectiveness she may have once had with our local criminals.
