Three entrepreneurs who deliver the best 60-second speech at the Elevator Pitch Contest Thursday morning will share in $1,500 in total prize money.
SIVI Corporation and Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Feynman Center for Innovation (FCI) and Community Programs Office (CPO) are sponsoring the event and providing the prize money. The contest is hosted by LACDC’s Los Alamos Venture Accelerator (LAVA) and part of Los Alamos ScienceFest.

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is alerting motorists that the I-25 northbound off-ramp (Exit 282) to St. Francis Drive will be closed at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 and re-open at 5 a.m., Sept. 12.
The contractor will be removing paint on the roadway due to vandalism that occurred last week. During this closure, motorists may use the Old Pecos Trail off-ramp (Exit 284) or the Cerrillos Road off-ramp (Exit 278).

As a part of fundraising efforts for the Los Alamos High School Dance Program, Ballroom Dance students and their teacher Natasha Barkhudarova will be offering four weekly sessions of Rumba Dance Classes for Beginners, starting Sept. 16.
Classes will be 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 16, 23, 30 and Oct. 7, at Los Alamos High School Topper Theater.

Entreprenurial Teen Grand Challenge Participants Wow Judges
The Quality Mobile Small Engine Repair Team from Espanola took First Place in the Entreprenurial Teen Grand Challenge and received $400 to build their business. The event was held Monday at UNM-Los Alamos as part of Los Alamos ScienceFest 2014. Judges were impressed by the achievable goals outlined in their proposal. In a talk with my sons with respect to the Human Enterovirus 68 (a respiratory virus infecting and hospitalizing children across 10 states including nearby Colorado), about staying away from crowded places, I have identified some very sensitive points in schools where kids are forced to crawl like “chickens in a non-ecological chicken farm” (animal protection groups call that animal cruelty).
