SUMMERS HUGH COX May 26, 1927 – June 16, 2016

Summers Hugh Cox was born May, 26, 1927 in Gasaway, W. Va., to T. Loring and Araminta B. Cox, the eighth of 10 children. He died June, 16, 2016 in Los Alamos surrounded by his loving family.

He served in US Army 1945-47, and then earned a BA in Biology at West Virginia University in 1951. Summers was married Dec. 27, 1952 to Joanne L. Weber and was her loving and devoted husband for 63 years.

LAHS Band Practices For Parade Wednesday

To prepare for their participation in a parade coming up in Washington, D.C., the Los Alamos High School Band will be practicing their marching skills 9:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29 on county roadways.
 
The band will be led by police escort, and the students will march down Nectar Street, continue on to Rose Street, then travel down Canyon Road to the high school.

Governor Announces Capture Of 100th DWI Fugitive

STATE News:

SANTA FE — Today, Gov. Susana Martinez announced the capture of the 100th DWI fugitive in New Mexico since the roundup began late last year.

In December, Martinez directed New Mexico State Police and the Department of Corrections Absconder Unit to track down and arrest DWI offenders – including repeat offenders and those who have killed or seriously injured families on the road – and have now skipped out on parole or probation and are hiding from the law.

No Streaming Broadcast Of Council Meeting Tonight

COUNTY News:

Because of a technical repair and replacement needed for Los Alamos County’s video streaming equipment, there will be no streaming broadcast of tonight’s County Council meeting in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building.

This malfunction only relates to streaming – there will still be a televised broadcast on PAC 8 television, and video capture for later playback on demand should still be available and posted on the County’s website after the meeting. Read More
