SANTA FE – State Auditor Tim Keller released a special audit today of water issues in Jal, a rural community near Hobbs. The audit was initiated after the Office of the State Auditor (OSA) received information suggesting that water utility credits were provided to a private customer in violation of the state’s Constitution.

SANTA FE — Gov. Susana Martinez announced this morning that Facebook will double its investment in the high-tech data center the company is building in Los Lunas, bringing the project’s total to nearly half a billion dollars.
Facebook will build a second building of 460,000 square feet, in addition to the more than 510,000 square-foot facility already underway at the site.

The Cajete Fire on the Santa Fe National Forest’s Jemez Ranger District was declared controlled at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, July 16, thanks to recent moisture that arrived with the monsoon season.
The 1,412-acre Cajete Fire, which started June 15 from an abandoned campfire, has been 96 percent contained since June 21.
Incident command determined that the uncontained 4 percent of the fire perimeter was not safe for firefighters to enter. The area near Los Griegos Peak is in the burn scar from the 2011 Las Conchas Fire and still contains multiple hazard trees, which can fall without warning. Read More

Los Alamos Police Chief Dino SgambelloneCrime statistics for Los Alamos County for the second quarter of 2017 were released today by Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone. The report contains crimes against persons such as murder/homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault as well as crimes against property such as arson, burglary, larceny and auto theft.

Approximately 1,600 customers experienced a power outage Sunday in Western Area (circuit 13).
The outage started at 10:08 p.m. and all power was restored by 11:10 p.m. The rest of the town may have experienced a “blink” during that time as power was being restored.
