NM Colleges Waive Application Fees Through November

SANTA FE — Most public colleges and universities in New Mexico will waive application fees throughout November, eliminating a financial barrier for prospective students during the annual ‘No Fee November’ initiative.

The program is supported by the New Mexico Higher Education Department, New Mexico Public Education Department and New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation.

FBI: Jury Finds Taos Man Guilty Of First-Degree Murder And All Other Charges Related To Brutal 2023 Pueblo Slaying

ALBUQUERQUE — A federal jury returned guilty verdicts against Zebadiah Romero, 37, on all charges for the October 2023 premeditated murder of a Taos Pueblo man with a single gunshot to the back of his head. The verdict came after a weeklong trial and less than a day of deliberation.

According to evidence presented at trial, on Oct. 30, 2023, Romero, a non-Indian, shot and killed John Doe, an enrolled member of the Taos Pueblo, inside John Doe’s residence on the Taos Pueblo.

State Police Search For Suspect In Deadly Socorro Shooting

Update: Following a nearly 48-hour manhunt aided by the Socorro Police Department Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, NMSP agents located Anthony Alvarado at a residence in Magdalena. Gilman Tunnels Closed To Public Dec. 1 & 2 For Critical Rock Stabilization Work

SANTA FE — Access to the Gilman Tunnels via Forest Road 376 will be prohibited for both motorized and non-motorized traffic on Dec. 1 & 2 to conduct critical rock stabilization work.
