Los Alamos Daily Post

The Department stocked a total of 28,022 rainbow trout weighing 12,336 pounds. Most of the stocking will now be in Northern New Mexico.

It looks like there will be one of the weakest spring runoffs in memory this year. The snowpack is already disappearing, and the weather has been unseasonably warm and dry. This is reflected in streamflow measurements.

Several lakes in Northeast New Mexico opened for fishing. Morphy Lake State Park, Clayton Lake State Park, Charette Lakes and Maxwell Lake 13 opened after being closed for the winter. Read More

Mystery solved. Old Joe’s planting a tree.

After removing the root mass from the five-gallon pot, the grandson disappeared and Old Joe was left to care for the baby tree. He carefully spread the tiny feeder roots out and tucked them in with soil. Then he packed more dirt around the tree’s base and soaked it well with the hose.

Daily Postcard: Double Rainbow Colors Sky Over White Rock

Daily Postcard: A double rainbow colors sky on April 7 over White Rock. The secondary rainbow is caused by a second reflection inside the droplet, and this “re-reflected” light exits the drop at a different angle – 50° instead of 42°. This is why the secondary rainbow appears above the primary rainbow. The secondary rainbow will have the order of the colors reversed, with red on the bottom and violet on the top. Source: NASA.
