New Mexico Press Women State Conference April 22-23

NMPW News:

New Mexico Press Women’s 2016 state conference is April 22-23 at the Bosque Retreat Center in Albuquerque.

The conference theme is “Shaping the Future of New Mexico: Our Role as Citizens and Journalists.” The speakers and panelists will explore what’s not being discussed in the public conversation or mainstream media about important issues.

Registration for members and non-members is available on the conference registration page. The deadline for registration is April 10. Early bird registration closes April 1.

The keynote speaker for the conference will be Winthrop Quigley, columnist for the Albuquerque Journal. Conference Panelists will discuss how law and public agencies deal with land and water issues as though there were no connection between them. They also will talk about gaps in the criminal justice system and the way the media handles crime and punishment.

This conference will raise issues to make one think. It also may inspire one to find a way to talk about the important things that make a state a worthwhile place to live. Anyone who wants to look beyond the surface of daily life in New Mexico is invited to participate.
