N.M. 502 to Los Alamos Closing for Maintenance Beginning Oct. 2

NMDOT News:

N.M. 502 to Los Alamos will close beginning Oct. 2 for road work.

The affected highway extends from Mile Marker 4 to Mile Marker 6 down the hill.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) advises all motorists to take the Truck Route to Los Alamos and Los Alamos National Laboratory while road work is in progress.

Crews will be milling out two and a half inches of existing pavement and repaving the road with new asphalt material to help rehabilitate the roadway.

The road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day from Tuesday, Oct. 2 through Saturday, Oct. 6 during milling operations.

On Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 8, N.M. 502 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for paving operations.

The road will be closed 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Weather permitting, the project should be completed by Sunday, Oct. 14.
