Millicent Rogers Museum’s 2016 Travel Program

MRM News:

The Millicent Rogers Museum is sponsoring two different trips this year: “On the Trail of the Anasazi: Four Corners Archaeology for Non-Archaeologists” Sept. 10-16 and “On the Trail of the Hopi” Oct. 15-21.

“On the Trail of the Anasazi” will include guided visits to Ancestral Puebloan ruins at Chaco Canyon and Aztec, New Mexico, Chimney Rock and Mesa Verde, Colorado, Newspaper Rock and Hovenweep, Utah and The Anasazi Heritage Center in Cortez, Colorado and the Edge of the Cedars Museum in Blanding, Utah. Participants will learn about the ancient culture of the Four Corners area and the beautiful art and buildings these amazing people left behind.

“On the Trail of the Hopi” will include visits to the Ancestral Hopi sites of Homolovi, Walnut Canyon and Wupatki, as well as three days in Hopi visiting villages and the Taawa Canyon petroglyph site, the largest rock art site in the Southwest. Many of these locations are accessible only with a Hopi guide. The trip will also include lectures and a katsina carving demonstration and pottery firing.

The price of each trip is $1,865 per person, double occupancy with a $400 single supplement. The price includes all transportation from Albuquerque, all hotels, meals, entry fees and lectures. Trip sizes are limited so make reservations as soon as possible.

“The trips the museum has run the past two years have been hugely successful and we now have a core group of wonderful people who have been traveling with us since the program began,” tour organizer Nancy Colvert said. “We’re sure participants will not only learn a lot, but also have a great time.”

A deposit of $500 per person is required at the time trip reservations are made. This amount is fully refundable up until 75 days before trip departure. The balance of the trip price is due at that time. No payments will be refunded after that point unless the space on the trip can be filled from a waiting list.
