The Los Alamos Phi Beta Kappa Association is pleased to announce the winners of our regional scholarship awards for 2023.
In addition to our annual Los Alamos High School scholarships, this is the first year that we have partnered with our area high schools to award scholarships to students from Santa Fe High School, Capital High School, and Santa Fe Indian School. Our goal is to support historically under-represented communities in fulfilling their educational and career goals along with their significant contributions to their communities, our nation, and our planet in all areas of the liberal arts and sciences. This year we awarded five $500 scholarships, and we hope to expand this program in the future with both larger awards and more scholarships awarded.
The scholarship awards recognize academic achievement as an indicator of promise for future accomplishments. All our scholarship winners not only have pursued excellence in high school and have plans for pursuing a college education that will enable them to build a professional career and allow them to fulfill their personal and professional goals, but each scholarship winner has also been involved in the pursuit of making their communities and the world a better place.
This year’s winners are Justin Mirabal, Santa Fe High School | Hailey Capitan, Santa Fe Indian School | DeAngelina Archuleta, Capital High School | Desirae Suina, Santa Fe Indian School | and Alyssa Sandoval, Capital High School. The Los Alamos Phi Beta Kappa Association Board congratulates these students on their accomplishments and we wish them great success in their future endeavors.

She said that she ‘hopes to work with the FBI to gain more insight and bring representation when it comes to Indigenous people in the field of forensic science as well as bringing awareness to the cases involving Indigenous people because they do go unnoticed.
