Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers Dominate At New Mexico Xcel State Gymnastics Championships

Los Alamos School of Gymnastics traveled to Belen to compete in the USA Gymnastics New Mexico State Championships.
 
Megan Brown, a first year competitor, won the Younger Bronze Division, taking the gold in the all around with 37.40. She also was the state champion on the floor exercise with 9.65 and on the balance beam with 9.50.
She took a silver on vault with 9.15. 
 
Team mate Danielle Trellue took the silver in the all around with 37.20, and medaled in every event. Trellue took the gold on bars with 9.40, silver on beam 9.45 and floor 9.40, and a bronze on vault with 8.95.
 
Alexandra Simikov took bronze on bars 9.30 and floor 9.20. 
 
Claudia Jablonski finished ninth with 33.75.
 
In the Youth Bronze Division, Deeanna Foster took the bronze in the all around with 36.70. She also took a gold medal on beam with 9.45 and a bronze medal on floor with 9.35. 
 
Anika Lovato took the silver on floor in this division with 9.40 and the bronze on both vault (9.10) and bars (9.15). 
 
In the Junior Bronze Division, Aria Warner took bronze on balance beam with 9.30. 
 
In the Bronze Senior Division, Cyra Bishop took the bronze in the all around with 35.75. She also took a silver on floor with 9.10. 
 
Sarah Hutchens took silver on vault 9.05 and bronze on bars 8.90. 
 
Evelyn Williams took silver on beam with 9.35. 
 
Hannah Clegg took bronze on floor with 9.05.
 
In the Silver Division Andrea Chapman took bronze all around in the younger division with 34.15. She also took bronze medals on vault 8.50 and bars 8.20. 
 
Sara Gardner finished sixth in this division. 
 
Kaeley Bustos took the bronze all around in the junior division with 36.60. She also took a gold medal as state floor champion with 9.40. She won silver on the beam 9.30 and bronze on the vault 9.10.
 
In the Junior Gold Division competition, Brianna Fryer took silver on bars 9.05. Addie Richie took bronze on vault 9.05. Allison Warner and Cherie McCreary did not make it to the competition.
 
In the Platinum Open Competition, Ashley Bustos was fourth all around with 35.70 and took silver on floor 9.35 and on vault 9.25. 
 
Suyana Ferreira was sixth all around with 35.15, Anna Clark was seventh with 34.90, and Carley Stilwell was ninth with 34.75.
 
Gold and Platinum Division gymnasts have the opportunity to qualify on to Regionals. Anna Clark, Ashley Bustos, Carley Stilwell and Suyana Ferreira will represent New Mexico in Platinum: and Brianna Fryer, Cherie Mc Creary and Addie Richie have qualified to represent New Mexico in gold. 
 
The regional meet will feature Xcel gymnasts from seven states, including New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Arkansas. It will be held in the Albuquerque Convention Center May 22-24.
