Local STEM Superstar Harshini Mukundan Featured On Emmy-Nominated Kids TV Show ‘Mission Unstoppable’

Saturday, Oct. 2, Los Alamos-based microbiologist, Harshini Mukundan, will be a guest on the season 3 premiere of CBS’ series, ‘Mission Unstoppable’.

The weekly series, which was nominated for two daytime Emmy Awards and received a Parents’ Choice Award and 20 Telly Awards, showcases stories of cutting-edge female scientists and STEM professionals to educate young girls about STEM careers in a fun and interesting way.

In her segment, Harshini shows young viewers how she uses her portable lab to diagnose infectious diseases, helping people who have a hard time accessing healthcare! As a microbiologist and team leader at the Los Alamos National Labs, she leads projects aimed at developing rapid detection and diagnostics assays for breast cancer, influenza, toxic panels, and others.

Harshini also is being featured in #IfThenSheCan – The Exhibit, a monumental exhibit of the most women statues ever assembled in one location. This first-of-its-kind, life-sized statue exhibit of 118 AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors hailing from more than 40 states is open and free to the public at Dallas’ NorthPark Center through Oct. 25.
