LAPS News:

As the Los Alamos Choir Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser heads toward its final weekend, the Choir Boosters thank the community for its strong support so far. The Boosters also want to let those who haven’t come by yet know that the Patch will remain open weekday afternoons and all day Saturday and Sunday until Oct.31, 2023. Open times will generally run from 3:30 p.m. to dusk weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekend, depending on staffing.

The annual Pumpkin Patch provides a festive fall event, bringing to our community the unique experience of picking out quality pumpkins of a large variety of shapes, sizes and colors at the Canyon Complex in Los Alamos.

This event comes about thanks to the efforts of student and parent volunteers, who unload thousands of pumpkins, grown near Farmington, and then staff the sales booth during this two-week run up to Halloween.

Last Falls’s fundraiser brought in more than $8,000 for the school choirs. Each year a part of the proceeds will be directed to scholarship funds to help provide relief to students in financial need as the high school choir plans trips, like last year’s visit to New York City to sing at Carnegie Hall. The proceeds also funded travel within New Mexico and Colorado, where the choirs sang in competitions where they consistently placed high.

Thanks to all who make this outstanding community fall festival a tremendous success. The boosters hope to see you there!
