LANL Foundation Supports K-12 Education With $1.4M Influx

LANL Foundation News:

ESPAÑOLA — LANL Foundation has announced it is awarding 35 grants totaling $1.4 million to educational institutions, Tribal communities, schools and organizations serving public school students and educators across northern New Mexico to deliver meaningful programs throughout the course of the next two years.

This latest grant cycle is the largest competitive round of funding LANL Foundation has distributed to date to school and community-based educators and organizations. Each grantee has been awarded $20,000 per year for two consecutive years totaling $40,000.

Funded programs and proposals demonstrate impact in one or more of LANL Foundation’s four strategic focus areas:

  • College, Career, Community Pathways;
  • Growing & Supporting Teachers & Educational Leaders;
  • Whole Child Development; and
  • STEAM.

Funded programs include outdoor education opportunities, climate advocacy programs, pipeline to career opportunities, bolstered arts education, Social Emotional Learning networks for educators and support staff, and many more vital programs–all developed and provided by districts, schools, Pueblos and tribal communities, and non-profit organizations right here in Northern New Mexico.

Education Enrichment Director Michael Dabrieo said LANL Foundation is thrilled to collaborate with this new Grantee Cohort.

“In making the shift to two years of funding, we hope to ensure the fantastic work and opportunities of our community-led partners is sustained and leads to increased access to high quality education for our students in Northern New Mexico.” Dabrieo added. “We are honored and humbled to be alongside these great leaders and organizations.”

LANL Foundation will continue supporting its 2021 Education Enrichment Grantees beyond the grant dollar, through networking, trainings, workshops and other informal learning and connection opportunities throughout the two-year term.
