ACCT News:

Atomic City Children’s Theater are proud to present their middle school production of Disney The Lion King Jr. All of your favorite characters from the classic Disney film and hit Broadway musical are here – Simba, Nala, Scar, Pumbaa, Timon, Zazu, and of course, Rafiki!

Disney The Lion King Jr. will be presented at 7:30 p.m., today, and again at 3 p.m., Saturday at Smith Auditorium.

ACCT’s Co-Directors, Daren Savage and Kelsey Cline are very proud of this cast. Savage noted, “Our cast’s stage experience range from students performing in their first show to students who are finishing their fourth year in our after-school program. Most of the students in the Olion’s upcoming production of “Spamalot” are former ACCT students.”

Savage added, “We are also pleased with how popular our Student Director program has become. We had 3 Student Directors for our November show, and 4 Student Directors for this show.”

ACCT Student Directors learn firsthand what it’s like to choreograph, stage and rehearse scenes and musical numbers. The cast and directors would like to invite everyone out to support our middle school students. As always, Atomic City Children’s Theater shows are free to the public.

Disney The Lion King Jr. is a musical based on the 1994 Disney animated film of the same name with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice along with the musical score created by Hans Zimmer with choral arrangements by Lebo M. The musical features actors in animal costumes.

In September 2014, The Lion King became one of the most successful in Broadway history, winning six Tony Awards including Best Musical, and is still running to this day in New York, becoming the fourth longest-running show and highest grossing Broadway production in history.
