LAMS News:

After a delay, Los Alamos Middle School (LAMS) held its Students of the Semester breakfast last month. Seventy eight 7th grade students and 68 8th grade students were honored for various achievements during the fall semester.

Students were presented with certificates by Principal Suzanne Lynne and Assistant Principal Andy Ainsworth as well as teachers from their teams. Family members were invited to join their students for the awards ceremony and breakfast.

Students are nominated as Students of the Semester by teachers.

“There were no specific categories,” said LAMS teacher and event  coordinator Jill Gross. “Teachers could nominate students who they felt were doing an awesome job for any reason. The Sky HAWKS did an outstanding job nominating students for real reasons rather than just the same reason. Some examples included, ‘For paying attention to detail, being perseverant, and contributing to a healthy social and academic class culture, or for being friendly, hard-working, respectful, and positive…’ Another team wrote, ‘Respectful and engaged, always willing to try her best or Motivated and Kind’.”

Spring semester recipients will be honored before the end of the school year.
