Los Alamos radio station KRSN AM 1490 is a finalist for the National Association of Broadcasters’ Crystal Radio Awards for the station’s coverage of the Las Conchas Fire.  Crystal Radio Award finalists are chosen by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms. Finalists will be honored and winners announced at an exclusive luncheon in Las Vegas, Nevada, where entertainer Donny Osmond will present a keynote address and long-time Major League Baseball radio broadcaster Bob Uecker will be inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

The National Association of Broadcasters previously announced the 50 finalists for the 25th Annual Crystal Radio Awards. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. Winners will be announced and the finalists will be honored at the NAB Radio Luncheon. The Luncheon, sponsored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, will be held Tuesday, April 17 during the 2012 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Should KRSN AM 1490 be declared a winner of the Crystal Radio Award, they will be honored at the NAB Education Foundation’s Celebration of Service to America Awards in Washington, D.C. June 11, where the local station will be nationally recognized by members of Congress, FCC Commiissioners and broadcast industry leaders.
