Jan McDonald Plays for LAHS Marching Band Fundraising Dinner

Nationally recognized trumpeter Jan McDonald will join Los Alamos High School Marching Band Boosters for a fundraiser Italian dinner Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Trinity on the Hill Church’s Kelly Hall.

The fundraiser will benefit the LAHS Marching Band.

“Jan McDonald continues to support the Topper Band, which he directed for almost 30 years,” event organizer Karen Mehlin said. “We are so excited that he will play for this event.”

McDonald received his BA and MA degrees in music education and pursued graduate studies at Indiana State University and Boston University.

He is the recipient of the Outstanding Secondary Educator Award and the Outstanding New Mexico Jazz Educator Award.

McDonald still teaches brass instruments privately. His popular CD will be available for purchase at the dinner.

Tickets for dinner are $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. The menu includes a choice of lasagna, fettucine with a choice of marinara or Alfredo sauces, or Asian rice noodles with spicy sauce, salad, bread, cookie and drink.

Dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. McDonald will play from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dine-in and carry-out options are available. For more information, call 412-8739.
