Hilltopper Graduate to Swim at Division III NCAA Championship

Kara Leasure, 2008 Los Alamos High School graduate and Bates College senior captain, is set to compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on March 21-24, at the Indiana Natatorium in Indianapolis.  Kara won the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title in the 200 breaststroke on Feb. 19, finishing with a new personal best of 2:21.11, breaking her own Bates record.  She also topped off the regular season by recording national consideration times of 4:35.58 in the 400 individual medley, and a 5:04:09 in her 500 freestyle.
Kara will be graduating from Bates College this June with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience.  She will be returning to Los Alamos this summer with the hopes of working at LANL before heading off to graduate school in the fall of 2013.  Kara will also continue to share her love of the sport by stepping on deck as an assistant coach for Charger Aquatics – Los Alamos team while she is home.
