Georgia O’Keeffe Landscape Tours At Ghost Ranch

GHOST RANCH News:

ABIQUIU  For the first time since they began in 2006, Georgia O’Keeffe Landscape Tours are scheduled to run at Ghost Ranch through the winter months this season, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, weather permitting.

Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center in Abiquiu began offering the Georgia O’Keeffe Landscape Tour in response to public demand. Participants board the motorbus for the tour and travel two miles down a private road and see more than 20 actual sites of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings, interwoven with stories of the artist’s 50-years at Ghost Ranch.

Red and gray hills were frequent subjects, as were the red and yellow cliffs O’Keeffe could see from the bedroom window of her home at Ghost Ranch.
Pedernal, the flat-topped mountain to the south, may have been her favorite subject. “It’s my private mountain,” she said. “God told me if I painted it often enough I could have it.”

And of course, the Ghost Ranch logo, used on everything from stationery to T-shirts, was adapted from an O’Keeffe drawing the artist had given to Arthur Pack, former owner of Ghost Ranch, in the 1930′s.

Tours are about an hour and 20 minutes in length. The per person cost for tours is $29 through December and $34 in 2016.

Reservations may be made by visiting the Ghost Ranch website.
