Fort Union National Monument Announces Junior Ranger Day April 16

Watrous — Fort Union National Monument announces its annual Junior Ranger Day celebration Sunday, April 16.
 
Come out for a family-friendly day of events that include a black powder demonstration and a scavenger hunt. The black powder artillery demonstration starts at 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m. families will be led on a scavenger hunt through the fort, looking for a variety of natural and man-made objects found in the park.
 
Throughout the day, 4th grade students can pick up an Every Kid in a Park Pass from the rangers, which gives them and their families a free annual pass to federal parks, lands and waters.
 
To visit the monument, take Exit 366 off I-25 at Watrous onto State Hwy 161, 8 miles. Park hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
