Los Alamos Middle School 7th grader Hannah Li placed 3rd at the 2025 New Mexico State Spelling Bee held March 29 in Albuquerque. She competed against 25 other students from across the state.

This was Li’s third trip to the State Spelling Bee. She placed second the last two years and has been participating in school and district spelling bees for four years.

NMSA: Winners Of 2025 Film Prize Junior New Mexico

NMSA News:

New Mexico School for the Arts students swept the prestigious Film Prize Junior New Mexico competition and festival, which was held April 4-6 at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Two NMSA students received top awards, and five NMSA students screened films at the festival. 

The 2025 Film Prize Junior Grand Prize for Best Overall Film went to Tulsi Shaw (NMSA Visual Arts, Class of 2027) for their film Wings!!!. Tulsi also won Best Overall High School Fantasy Film.

Judge Dismisses All Charges In Parent’s Suit Against LAPS

State District Court Judge Jason Lidyard has dismissed all 18 charges in the lawsuit brought by former Los Alamos High School parent Luckie Daniels against Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS).

Daniels filed an 84-page lawsuit against the district on Nov. 27, 2023, alleging her civil rights had been violated. She named the superintendent, assistant superintendent and members of the school board in her suit and sought $558,400 in damages (link).

Moon Tree Lands At NM Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum
