Familiarity breeds a great time when it comes to the Los Alamos rock band, Eddy & the Nomads.

Los Alamos’ favorite band plays this Friday, Aug. 3 at Del Norte Credit Union. The free concert is presented by the sponsors of the Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series.

Please check out our sponsors, photos from past concerts and info on upcoming shows at www.gordonssummerconcerts.com.

Friday’s show starts at 7 p.m. and it’ll be Del Norte Credit Union Night.

The Nomads have been playing Los Alamos concerts for about 30 years. Members have come and gone except for Wilfred Romero who is a founding member.

Eddy Partridge joined a few years later. The band’s name changed to Eddy & the Nomads a few years ago when they discovered that “Nomads” had way too many listings on the Web. Eddy & Wilfred play lead and rhythm guitars. Bob Carmen is the bassist and Ringo Davey is the drummer.

Eddy & the Nomads have played the Summer Concert Series every year except one over the last 23 years.

The band plays almost entirely rock, Norteno and country hits of the 50’s and 60’s this Friday you’ll hear such classics as “Peggy Sue,” “Blueberry Hill,” “Back In The USSR,” “Be-Bop-A-Lula,” “La Bamba,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Volver, Volver” and many more.

You will know almost every song. It’ll be the music of Fats Domino, the Beatles, the Doors, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Johnny Burnette, Rick Nelson and many others.

You can dance and you’ll be singing or humming along. You’ll see a lot of your friends at the show or you can make new ones.

Next week, Friday, Aug. 10 and 11 will be the Los Alamos County Fair. The music portion is presented by our Series’ sponsors.

On Friday night we present Country-soul. A fabulous dance band, the Stone River Boys from Texas.

They’re a tremendous band. Check them out at www.stoneriverboys.com, www.myspace.com/stoneriverboys.

They can also be seen and heard on Facebook and youtube.

Saturday at 11 a.m. or right after the County Fair Parade passes, we’ll have iconic N.M. band, Bill Hearne’s Roadhouse Review.

Check out this tremendous country dance band at www.billhearne.com, www.myspace.com/billhearnemusic, and on youtube.

See you at the concerts,
