It’s Chamberfest Weekend and that means lots of festivities downtown kicking off at 7 p.m. today with Greg Abate, beebop sax-man from Rhode Island and the Pete Amahl Trio performing live on Central Avenue at Main Street.
Eddy & the Nomads perform in concert 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the same stage Saturday.
It’s all part of the Summer Concert Series, sponsored by Los Alamos County and brought to you by Russ Gordon.
Also Saturday, Bandelier is hosting a “Fee Free Day.” The event includes a guided family hike starting at 8 a.m. It’s all part of Bandelier’s “Get Outdoors Day” celebration.
A neighborhood meeting is scheduled at 9 a.m. Saturday for residents living near Los Pueblos Park. Parks Manager Dick McIntyre is seeking input on new plans for the park including a new dog park been proposed by a group of citizens.
Tuesday’s Los Alamos County Council Meeting starts at 6 p.m., an hour earlier than usual at the Community Building.
The focus is on “structure of government” and proposed changes to the County Charter. Also, construction award for the Los Alamos County Golf Course Community Building imoves to Council for consideration on the consent calendar.

Last week the County Council named a new County attorney and approved a new Community Services Department director.

“Pickleball” starts June 19 at White Rock Baptist Church and continues 1-2 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday. “Pickleball” consists of ping-pong, tennis and badminton played with two to four people using wooden paddles. Single players or teams volley the plastic ball back and forth over a net. The cost is $2 per day. Call the Recreation office at 662-8173 for details.
The White Rock Family Friendly Film “Happy Feet 2” starts at 7 p.m., Thursday June 14 in the Town Hall and everyone is welcome.
