Los Alamos County Council meets Tuesday evening…

The Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers in Los Alamos – one of the items includes the public hearing on the Charter election resolution for the November ballot. The County will also begin using a NEW video streaming service that allows the public to better follow along with the meeting agenda. The meeting also is broadcast on cable PAC-8. The Return of Glass Recycling…

You asked, we listened. Glass recycling drop off locations are expected to be set up around the County starting in September. Find out why glass must not be placed in blue roll carts at the curb at http://www.losalamosnm.us/news/Pages/GlassRecyclingReturns.aspx

Aquatic Center will be CLOSED Friday morning…

On June 29, the pool will be closed 7-11 a.m. to service the water heater. The short course “early bird” lap swim will be available 5-7 a.m. The pool will be open again at 11 a.m. for all activities.

Quarterly Brush and Large Item Collection Coming Soon…

Gather brush, furniture, mattresses and large appliances and bag leaves and pine needles for FREE curb-side pick-up. Residents living in Los Alamos should plan to have the items curbside no later than 8 a.m. as follows:

  • July 2 for Monday or Tuesday trash service.
  • July 9 for Wednesday, Thursday or Friday service.
  • Quarterly pick up for White Rock won’t occur until July 16 (Friday trash service) or July 23 (Tuesday service). For questions, call the Eco Station at 662-8163.

TREASURES & TIDBITS…

Remember to observe Fire & Fireworks Restrictions…

As Independence Day draws near, the County urges residents to take a minute to read this proclamation (see link below) that was passed by the County Council earlier in June – certain types of fireworks are banned from use within County borders. The USFS also has its own set of restrictions in place for camping in nearby mountains. Stay safe, and keep the natural wildland surroundings safe, too, as it’s very dry out there.

High Mountain Mudfest/Mud Volleyball Tournament…

Saturday, July 21 at the Recreation Division’s double elimination mud volleyball tournament. $130/team – adult co-ed competitive, 18 years + and at least four women per team. Deadline to enter is 5 p.m., July 12. Call 662-8173 for more information.
