West Road Closed

The road is closed to vehicle traffic starting this evening – based on a joint decision yesterday by DOE, LANL and the County – it’s because of the threat of flash flooding in LA Canyon after last year’s Las Conchas wildfire devastated much of the upper watershed. It will stay closed for several weeks until monsoon season ends, for the public’s safety.

Councilors Tour the Municipal Complex Construction

Several members of the Council got a tour today of the new building under construction between Iris and Central Avenue. At this point, the exterior framing is nearly completed and work on interior framing is rapidly proceeding. Roofing began this week. The contractor said today that they are several months ahead of schedule – expecting substantial completion in January 2013, but it will still be several months after that date before punch list items are closed out and then County and Historic Archives staff would begin a phased move in – still likely to occur next summer.
