CO+OP News:
The Co+op invites community members to help clean up its adopted trails Saturday, Oct. 26. There are two trail clean-up projects to choose from:
- 9-10:30 a.m. – Canyon Rim Trail Clean-up. Meet the Co+op Board and help clean up the Canyon Rim Trail. This is the easier trail option and volunteers are welcome to join anytime between 9 and 10 a.m. Board Members will be at both ends of the trail to greet trail clean-up participants.
- 9:30 a.m. to noon – Pueblo Canyon Clean-up. Help the Co+op staff clean up Pueblo Canyon below the big bridge. This group will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Aquatic Center Parking lot.
To ensure the most positive experience, some preparation is required including what to bring:
Volunteers should wear or bring:
- Long pants;
- Hat;
- Closed-toe shoes good for hiking;
- Sunscreen;
- Work gloves;
- Plenty of water;
- Snacks; and
- Layers – the fall weather can be especially cool.

BE AWARE OF NATURAL HAZARDS
Poison ivy: The leaves of poison ivy are turning with the season and starting to fall off, so the plant is easy to spot and steer clear. Be especially vigilant in Pueblo Canyon.
Slippery rocks: The rocks in the canyon bottom can be slick with algae, even ones that are not wet, so watch your step. Be especially vigilant in Pueblo Canyon.
Flash floods: If it’s raining somewhere, then flooding is possible. The Co+op staff will check the weather before the Pueblo Canyon group meets, and the group will not go into the canyon if flash flooding is a possibility.
