COUNTY News:

Construction of the kiddie/multigenerational pool project is scheduled to begin the first week of February at the Aquatic Center on canyon Road.

Klinger Constructors will begin with fencing off the grassy area on the south east side of the building and excavating to relocate a sewer main. Some other utility work has already started on the site by other contractors to relocate utility lines.

The pool addition, designed by FBT Architects, features a three-and-a-half-foot deep pool area, a zero entry to 18 inches deep play area with water spray features, a lazy river and a two-story winding water slide.

The water will be warm for a more relaxed experience. Three new bathrooms and five new changing rooms will be included. Improvements will also be performed on the existing building including reconfiguring the lobby doors to reduce the cold outside air coming in, reconfigure the service counter to handle the increased traffic, replace the worn lobby flooring, replace the Olympic Pool water filters, and replace roofing in the flat roof areas.

The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2021.

Construction equipment and materials will occupy some parking area and work will require closing the building intermittently during the project. These closures will be grouped together as much as possible and kept to a minimum.

The public will be notified weeks in advance of any closure to the building. More information about the project’s progress can be found at the County webpage.
