Starting Monday, traffic will be switched to one lane of traffic on each side of the road. Work will continue in the middle median area. Speed limit within the construction area is 30 mph. Expect modifications to the work zone as work progresses. Drive defensively and watch for construction vehicles. The contractor plans to work on Saturday and Sunday, June 30-31.
Pavement Preservation Program
The 2012 Pavement Rehabilitation Program will begin within the next week and last for five to six weeks. White Rock roads to be recycles and repaved include Kilby, Donna, Garver, Connie, Cheryl, Cheryl Ct., Canada Way, Barcelona, Rover from Carlsbad to Grand Canyon, Aragon west of Rover, Azure, and possibly Shirlane. In Los Alamos – Range Road and North Mesa Road from Hawk Drive to just east of the Posse Lodge. Residents will receive notice 48 hours in advance of work beginning in the immediate area. Traffic control will include lane closures and flagging operations, resulting in minor delays.
Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving & Utility Project – Phase 1
Canyon Road between East Road (N.M. 502) and the Myrtle Green continues to be closed to through traffic. Residential access to this area will be maintained; however, residents who park on Canyon Road are asked to park off-street or on a nearby side street. Residents can expect flagging operations on Canyon Road during the day time, and two-way traffic at night. Minor delays may be experienced. Pedestrians must use the provided pedestrian detours. All through traffic must seek alternate routes.
RMCI is also working on 15th Street, requiring the closure of 15th Street between Trinity Drive and Deacon Street, as well as reducing traffic between Deacon Street and Central Avenue to two lanes of traffic to allow for work on the west side of 15th Street. Pedestrians will be detoured around the construction area. Access to area businesses will be maintained. The 15th Street detour will be Knecht Street; other alternatives motorists may want to consider are 20th Street or Oppenheimer.
4th Street between Central Avenue and Canyon Road continues to be closed to through traffic. Residential access will be maintained.
The work on 15th Street is expected to be complete on or before July 28.
