PEEC Explore Broken Mesa Ruins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. Meet at Trailhead.

Are you looking for a nice hike to kick off the new year? Join Janie O’Rourke on a PEEC hike to explore Broken Mesa Ruins. The hike starts in Pajarito Acres, a subdivision of White Rock. The hike, which is about 3 to 4 miles long and takes approximately 3 hours, is highlighted with expansive mesa and mountain views and visits to two coalition period Indian ruins. The walking in and out of the canyon is moderately strenuous and there is some scrambling to the top of a small mesa. Participants should bring a lunch or snack, water, sunscreen, and wear appropriate layers for changing weather. This hike is limited to a maximum of 20 and advance registration is required, so be sure to sign up soon!
