This talk will discuss comets in general and give an update on what’s likely to happen in early December. The program will also address what PEEC will be doing to give people the opportunity to view the comet.

18th Annual Letter Carrier & Boy Scouts Food Drive 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23
This community food drive is jointly conducted by the Los Alamos Letter Carriers Union (NALC-4112), the Northern New Mexico District of the Boy Scouts of America, and LA CARES with the support of the National Letter Carriers Union, the US Postal Service, the Knights of Columbus, Smith’s Food & Drug Stores, RE/MAX and many individual volunteers. The drive supports those in need in Los Alamos and Rio Arriba Counties through regular distributions by LA CARES and the San Martin de Porres Soup Kitchen in Espanola. Residents should place non-perishable donations of food and supplies near their mailboxes for pick-up by Letter Carriers, Scouts, and volunteers.  Cub Scouts will also be collecting donations at both Smith’s Supermarket locations in Los Alamos and White Rock from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

Girl Scout Holiday Bazaar 9:30 a.m. to Noon Saturday, Nov. 23 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Unique, affordable arts, crafts and holiday treats made by local Girl Scouts for you to purchase. Come support our local Girl Scouts!!

Festival of Trees 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at Betty Ehart Senior Center
The festive fun includes; free pictures with Santa, an arts and crafts fair, a silent auction of more than 60 holidays trees, wreaths, ornaments, quilts and more. Admission is a non-perishable item to benefit a variety of programs. A special request has been made to donate diapers for the Los Alamos High School FCCLA program.

Atomic City’s Got Talent 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at Crossroads Bible Church
A United Way Youth Team Event. A night of music, skits, and performances sure to bring laughter and smiles to your face. Along with vocalists, a jump rope team, and a dance group — audience members are in for a special treat. Renegade Mountain Band headlines.

Sunday, Nov. 24

CROP Hunger Walk 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24
Participants in Los Alamos can walk or run with their friends and neighbors for 1.7 or 2.5 miles while helping a good cause.  About 50 people will receive a turkey or pumpkin pie in a random drawing after the CROP Hunger Walk.
