Bandelier To Waive Entrance Fees On Veterans Day

Veterans Day has been a fee free day at Bandelier National Monument since 2006 and this year is no exception.

Friday, Nov. 11, in honor of those who have served and sacrificed for this country, the National Park Service (NPS) is waiving entrance fees Veterans Day at all National Park Service sites.

Fee free days provide opportunities to explore new places or enjoy a favorite. Out of more than 400 national parks, just over 100 charge an entrance fee. The entrance fee waiver for fee-free days does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping.  

Starting Nov. 11, Veterans and Gold Star Family members qualify for a free Interagency Lifetime Military pass that provides entry into more than 2,000 federal public lands and waters, including all National Park Service sites. Active-duty military and their dependents continue to qualify for a free Interagency Annual Military pass. Interagency passes cover all occupants of one private vehicle or up to 4 individuals at per person fee sites. Lifetime or Annual Military passes may be obtained in-person with valid veteran or military ID at participating federal fee areas, including Bandelier. They also may be obtained online through the USGS store ($10 processing fee for passes obtained online).

Bandelier National Monument is open every day from sunrise to sunset. In Frijoles Canyon, the park visitor center and the park store (operated by Western National Parks Association) is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.    

Park entrance fees are normally $25 per private vehicle, $20 per motorcycle, or $15 per bicycle/individual. All entrance passes are valid for 7 days. Camping fees are not included in entrance fees. America the Beautiful– the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands passes are accepted for entrance fees. The full suite of America the Beautiful – the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands passes as well as Bandelier Annual passes are available for purchase at the visitor center.
