CHARTWELLS News:

The thought of going back to school just got a little better with great new things in store from Chartwells.

Eat, Learn, Live is the motto of the Los Alamos Public Schools’ food service partner known as Chartwells and overseen by Director of Food Services and Chef Mia Holsapple. Holsapple is ready for a new year with fresh ideas and a friendly staff to meet the needs for her school family.

Holsapple is a 2005 graduate of Le Cordon Blue in Atlanta, Ga. She has loved every culinary experience from a large resort and country club chef to her current position serving all LAPS sites and catering for the community.

Chartwells is the K-12 school division of the worldwide North America Compass Group. Compass Group and Chartwells have the mission, “To extend their passion, dedication knowledge and enthusiasm into serving each student delicious and nutritious meals.”

The chef has great plans for all sites with elementary to add ala cart items in addition to full meals. Those items include; baked chips, fresh fruits, juices and fruit bars.

The Toppers will be adding a morning coffee bar located in upper commons with plans to offer grab and go items as students adjust to morning routines. Grab and go items at lunch as well as a second serving line in the lower commons, will increase the speed to get lunch served and students on their way.

“My staff is dedicated to providing the best meals and service possible to the students of the Los Alamos School District,” Holsapple said.

Parents can still utilize their on-line service for payment options through, “School Café” on the beautiful new LAPS website. A new service for middle and high school students will be the ability to pay at the register with credit and debit cards.

Monthly menus will be posted to the school website and available through the Nutrislice website and via mobile app.
