Atomic City Children’s Theater Holds Auditions

ATOMIC CITY CHILDREN’S THEATER News:

Atomic City Children’s Theater (ACCT), the Los Alamos Public Schools’ after-school theater program, is holding auditions for its Elementary School Production of Disney The Little Mermaid, Jr., a two-act musical play based on the hit Broadway musical and full-length movie of the same name.

Auditions will be 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.in the Barranca Mesa Elementary School gymnasium. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and the auditions are open to 5th or 6th grade students in the Los Alamos area.

ACCT also offers students the chance to explore other areas of technical theater, such as working lights and sound, helping with costumes, and working back stage during the shows.

Students interested in these areas are also invited to the audition to register and meet the directors.

Co-directors Julia Fair and Daren Savage are leading the ACCT after-school theater program into its fifth year.

Two public performances of Disney The Little Mermaid, Jr. by the elementary school cast are scheduled for Dec. 14 and 15 at Duane W. Smith Auditorium.

ACCT offers performing opportunities to elementary and middle school age students and is designed to promote academic excellence through participation in the arts.
