Earlier in the school year, Santa Fe artist Pamela Messer visited Los Alamos Middle School on several occasions to work with the students and teachers on creating ceramic masterpieces. These visits were made possible in great part by a $1,500 grant from the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation. The students learned to make, glaze and fire ceramic pieces, and the teachers used the experience to assess the possibility of installing a new kiln at the Middle School.

UTE INDIAN MUSEUM News:
With approximately 200 artifacts, the exhibits will feature artifacts that have never been on display including a velvet dress belonging to Chipeta and a painted hide.
Objects that highlight contemporary Ute life including a beaded cell phone case, an oil rig drill bit, and a Bear Dance shawl will also be displayed. Many beloved artifacts will return to the museum, especially belongings of Ute leaders Chief Ignacio, Chief Buckskin Charley, Chief Ouray and Chipeta.

On The Job In Los Alamos: Aaron Anderson At LAMA
On the job in Los Alamos is Aaron Anderson, co-owner of Los Alamos Music Academy LLC (LAMA) in his studio Friday at 200 DP Road. Anderson and his partner Cia Khakaura got together as the result of a discussion on Facebook about the demand for high quality, yet affordable, music lessons in Los Alamos. He was looking to grow his studio without a huge increase in time commitment, while she was looking for a way to decrease her travel to her students. Pub Crawl Through Downtown Los Alamos June 1
HILL STOMPERS News:
The Hill Stompers Band will lead a family-friendly pub crawl through downtown Los Alamos Thursday, June 1. Jeff Favorite, leader of the Hill Stompers, says that this is, as far as he knows, the first-ever Los Alamos pub crawl to be led by a live band.
“People ask me, ‘What, you’re going to both bars?,’” Favorite said. “But there are actually seven or eight bars downtown now.”

Pajarito Mountain Ski Area has announced several upcoming events:
- The Pajarito Mountain Cafe re-opens for business 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and will be open at that time every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and on event days throughout the summer.
- The Bike and Hike event of the season is 1-6 p.m., Saturday.
- Summerfest is Saturday, June 10, with live music, bike races, a dozen New Mexico craft breweries and more. Details are available at skipajarito.com.

An icon painting workshop in the Byzantine-Russian tradition is June 12-17 in Santa Fe. The Prosopon School of Iconology introduces students to the practice and theory of the ancient Christian art of icon-writing in the Byzantine-Russian tradition.
In the intensive, “hands-on” workshop each participant will paint an icon using traditional techniques and materials. Tuition for the six-day workshop is $675, which includes tuition, a traditionally gessoed icon board and all materials. Read More
