Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Taos County

NMSP News:

TAOS COUNTY — At approximately 6:05 p.m., Nov. 14, 2020, the New Mexico State Police investigated a crash in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Taos County.

The incident occurred on New Mexico Highway 285 around mile marker 384 near Tres Piedras. 

The initial investigation indicates Destry Walsh, 43, of Tres Piedras was in the middle a dark unlit roadway when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

Walsh sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

NMED COVID-19 Business Watchlist For Nov. 22, 2020

NMED News:

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has updated its daily Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist, which includes New Mexico places of employment that have had two or more rapid responses in the last 14 days.

There are 272 establishments on the Watchlist as of today.

New Mexico Unemployment Rate 8.1 Percent In October

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in October 2020, down from 9.9 percent in September and up from 4.8 percent in the previous year.

The national unemployment rate in October was 6.9 percent, down from 7.9 percent in September and up from 3.6 percent in October 2019.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment fell by 54,700 jobs, or 6.3 percent, between October 2019 and October 2020. Most losses came from the private sector, which was down 52,400 jobs, or 7.8 percent. The public sector was down 2,300 jobs, or 1.2 percent.
