Continuing his quest to grow into the largest real estate firm in New Mexico by 2019, Zia Realty Group owner/broker James Chrobocinski purchased his own suite of offices Nov. 4 at the corner of Central Avenue and 15th Street in the ground level of the Community Bank Building.
Major renovations are underway in the space, which is expected to be ready for the Zia Realty Group team to move into in early January.
“We’re really doing some significant upgrading to create a wow factor for people when they walk into our office,” Chrobocinski told the Los Alamos Daily Post during an interview in the new location Wednesday afternoon. “We want to provide our clients with the utmost in comfort and service.”

Chrobocinski purchased 1,600-square-feet of office space from Ina Acomb and Karen Hawkins, brokers in his firm, and is leasing an additional 2,000-square-feet previously occupied by Karen Wray Fine Art Gallery.

“The reason for the move is we always preach the importance of ownership so we’re taking our own advice and have purchased our own office,” Chrobocinski said. “The space we are currently in at 1460 Ste. 1, Trinity Dr., is available for lease as soon as we move. We’re planning to have a big re-grand opening party for the entire community once we get settled in our new location.”

Chrobocinski, 41, spent 26 years living in Corpus Christi, Texas. He moved there from Los Alamos with his father Tom Chrobocinski after junior high school. He decided it was time to return home after losing his mother in February 2012 and his grandmother in 2010.

He returned to Los Alamos in 2012 and launched Zia Realty Group on Trinity Drive.

In January, he purchased the real estate division of REA from Pearl White and a short time later purchased Los Alamos Properties from David Horpedahl. He has since opened a second office in Santa Fe bringing his combined staff to 26 brokers.

“My plan has been to grow Zia Realty Group throughout the state within seven years from when I opened my first office,” Chrobocinski said.

Chrobocinski has deep ties to Los Alamos. His grandfather and namesake James Bramble, 93, has lived in Los Alamos since the Manhattan Project era of the 1940s. His Grandmother Pat Bramble died in March of 2010.

Chrobocinski’s stepfather John Foster works at Los Alamos National Laboratory and his brother Randy Chrobocinski Foster is a Santa Fe sheriff married to local veterinarian Shayna Whitaker. Chrobocinski’s sister is Jennifer Foster King who is the physician market manager for Los Alamos Medical Center. Chrobocinski’s younger brother is Joe Foster who works in IT at LANL and his wife Erica is a nurse at LAMC.

Chrobocinski’s uncle Bill Bramble graduated from Los Alamos High School. Chrobocinski’s mother Jeannie Bramble Foster also graduated from Los Alamos High School. She worked many years as a registered nurse in Los Alamos and real estate agent for well-known broker Pat Rogers.

Chrobocinski earned his nursing license and went on to work in healthcare management for 15 years. He met his wife Jacqueline while working in a large hospital in Corpus Christi. He was a registered nurse and she was the charge nurse and his boss. Jacqueline is working as an ICU nurse at Los Alamos Medical Center. To keep his hand in healthcare, Chrobocinski works a couple of days a month as a house supervisor at LAMC where he oversees the clinical side of the hospital during his shift.

The Chrobocinski’s married nine years ago and have a son JJ, 7, who attends Mountain Elementary School.

Chrobocinski is a member of the Rotary Club of Los Alamos and serves as president of Los Alamos Little League. He can be reached at James@ZiaRealtyGroup.com or 505.662.8899.
