TAOS News:

Yuletide in Taos is the name given to all the unique New Mexican celebrations that happen throughout the holiday season.

With the falling of snow on candle-lit farolitos that line the streets in front of old adobe shops and homes, one is transported to another time and place.

Taos will be kicking off the month Friday, Dec. 3 with the 36th Annual Yuletide Tree Lighting at the Taos Plaza.

Saturday, Dec. 4, the Lighting of Ledoux celebration will take place on historic narrow Ledoux Street. Visitors and community members can gather at galleries, shops and museums to enjoy holiday treats and drinks.

The following weekend Dec. 11-12, Aztec dancers will kick off the Bonfires on Bent Street, an evening full of blessings, caroling, entertainment, food and hot beverages.

Yuletide is the entire holiday season and includes all the unique traditions of the holiday season here in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. Visitors can check out Taos Folk, the town’s famous POP-UP store offering affordable handmade gifts by a variety of artisans in the area.

At the end of the month, Taos will celebrate the New Year in the Taos Plaza with a family-friendly pig roast dinner followed by a fireworks and a torchlight parade, where skiers light up the Taos Ski Valley as they glide down the mountain with torches in hand.
