LAYSL News:

Registration for both the recreational and tournament teams are open for the Los Alamos Youth Soccer League until Aug. 19. Register online at www.laysl.org. .

The league has three types of play for all abilities and interests. The recreational league is for anyone who wants to give soccer a try.  Recreational players have two days of practice and one game per week during the season.

There will be one day of “academy” style training. This is a practice session of different stations all focusing on specific skills. The players are constantly moving and interacting with other players in their age group. The other practice is team focused and coach run.

Relatively new to the league are the tournament teams. These teams are all girls or all boys. This is for the player who would like to get more experience outside the recreational league. They participate in two to four tournaments outside the county and/or scrimmage with Santa Fe and Albuquerque teams to have some new competition. These experiences prepare players for the competitive league. There are still openings for the U10 & U11 boys or girls tournament teams.

A third option is the competitive league for players U11 and up. These teams travel to play in the Duke City League in Bernalillo. They are for the advanced player seeking to refine skills and to prepare for playing for the Los Alamos High School soccer teams (C-team, Junior Varsity, and Varsity). Unfortunately, registration for the competitive team is closed for the fall 2013 season. Registration will open for spring 2014 in mid-October.
